Tell us about LG Electronics’s labor policy.
|
| A |
We prefer to use the term "labor-management relationship" rather than "employer-employee relationship." The employer-employee relationship involves a top-down or vertical approach, whereas our labor-management philosophy promotes cordial and trustworthy interaction between management and labor, based on equal or level footing.
Through this mind-set, we have transformed our labor-management relationship into a "relationship that creates value" whereby both parties can work together to help the company attain the No.1 spot in the world. Consequently, management and labor have become partners in building a corporate culture based on excellence and creativity.
We have therefore changed the management outlook of our labor unions and production fields and as a result, have boosted customer confidence in LG Electronics. We are also leading the development of Korea's labor-management relationships. These efforts have enabled LG Electronics to win the Industrial Peace Tower Award and the Fun Workplace Grand Prize in 1994. LG Electronics was also designated as a model company in labor-management cooperation in 1997.
